Mark Zuckerberg needs to update his relationship status on Facebook — according to Bill Gates, the 26-year-old Facebook founder is engaged.
The Microsoft creator let slip the news about the notoriously private Mr Zuckerberg during an interview with a UK newspaper.
Either Mr Gates revealed a well-kept secret or suffered a slip of tongue when he described Mr Zuckerberg's long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan as his "fiancee".
Mr Gates is friends with Mr Zuckerberg and was talking about their shared passion for philanthropy when he dropped the revealing detail.
"I didn't say to Mark, 'Give me all your money!'. He was predisposed to do it and he came to me seeking advice," Mr Gates told the Mail on Sunday.
'His fiancee Priscilla thought about education and he gave money to Newark, New Jersey, and we did a co-grant so that some of our people who had some expertise in that field could help him out".
Mr Zuckerberg has been dating Ms Chan since university days at Harvard in 2003.
The couple moved into a five-bedroom house in Palo Alto, California, last month after the young billionaire purchased the property for US$7 million ($6.6 million).
Both Mr Zuckerberg and Ms Chan, 26, have publicised on Facebook the fact they are in a relationship together.
But on Sunday, the day the Mail article was published, Mr Zuckerberg removed any reference to his relationship status from public view, the Daily Mail reports.
He also appears to have updated his privacy settings, no longer allowing photos he has been tagged in to appear along the top of his public profile.
